Hi everyone

Well my real name is Jimmy, but I'm best known by my original Internet handle "YourNumbr1Fan"....

I live in a big-ish small town in Tennessee called Cookeville (aka Cookie-Town), home of Tennessee Tech, with my lovely wife Yvonne (visit her DA page here: :iconpooperwot: ) and our cute little dawgeh Precious. It's a very beautiful place, with rolling hills, mountains, and plenty of cool places to have fun at...

I've been at DA now for a little over 3 years. I originally created an account here only to browse art, but soon became interested in making my own stuff, especially u.i. design, and decided to start uploading my creations. What got me started was making logon-screens for XP...then, I began making Windows 7 logons, some RocketDocks, some Xion Audio Player skins, etc., etc. Now that I've upgraded to Windows 8.1, I'm trying to get into learning all I can about customizing the o.s., and making interface designs that'll compliment the colors, sharp edges, overall flat u.i. This trend (thin, flat u.i. elements) will likely stay with us into all future versions of Windows. It has lots of potential. I believe in the "less is more" minimalist philosophy, and enjoy seeing all the slick, non-bulky themes (visual-styles, elements) that artists are coming up with.

I'm inspired greatly by my talented DA friends, and I try to pick up a new skill (design trick, coding knowledge, etc.) at least monthly. I'm just not able to be here as much as I'd like.

Please enjoy what little bit of artwork I've uploaded here in my Gallery, but also please respect my intellectual property. Do not re-upload my stuff, or use it in anything that you upload (except of course screenshots) without first asking my permission. I'll more-than-likely give it, but it burns me up to see my art used/re-uploaded/modified without my blessings. :skullbones: And yes, that has happened on more than a few occasions. I always ask others if I can use their art in my uploads, if I want to do a project that requires someone else's original designs. And, if they grant me permission, I always credit them and link to them. Please show me the same respect.

Thanks for visiting my little corner of DA, for Watching & Fave-ing!

Work Nite Shift vs for W8.1 by Y-N-1-F
Work Nite Shift vs for W8.1

Introducing Work Nite Shift visual-style for Windows 8.1...

This is a theme that was put together by my awesome bud Jamie Green (neiio) as a personal favor to me. He made the basic vs and then sent it to me --- I then made several adjustments to it in WSB, fixed a few bugs, added my own style to it along with several other cool modifications....and am now happy to be sharing it with you all (with neiio's permission of course). If you like dark, slick, matte themes, this one will satisfy. I went over this theme for almost a month, tweaking this, adjusting that, adding small details, adjusting font-colors, adding images, etc., and I have to admit it has turned out to be one hell of a killer vs! Try it out.

This vs has became an ongoing side-project with me, I'm always trying to make it a little better, and learning skinning skills as I go, so if you like it be sure to re-download it occasionally so that you'll have the latest ui tweaks. Also, feedback is very important to me---so leave comments, report bugs! I'll do my best to respond to/address them. When Windows 10 goes final and public, I'll get busy porting this vs, but right now it's not a priority with me since 10 is in the beta, tech-preview stage, and there's sure to be some other major adjustments that MS have in mind that most likely will throw a monkey-wrench into attempts to skin Windows 10 at this stage of the game. Several pioneering spirits are nonetheless making a lot of headway skinning the tech preview, my hat is off to them and I'm keeping up with their progress and discoveries. I'm just not really wanting to install the tech preview right now myself and fool with it. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the fact that they're (Microsoft) adding a 'revamped' start-menu back to the o.s.; I think it's pretty redundant and silly-looking. I feel the same way about them adding the start-button back to 8.1. But those are just my opinions, and of course I'll likely be upgrading when it does go public. But I won't be using that fugly live-tile start menu or running Store-apps in windowed-mode! lol.

Stay tuned for more updates with this vs...

Updated: (10/30/2014)  Yep, a few more minor updates: Changed the taskbar toolbar buttons, touched up the 'hot' button in the treelist, changed a couple more buttons, re-did the balloon tip...just a little clean-up of some items here and there...
Updated: (10/25/2014)  Disappeared the group header line in the This PC explorer window (the dark line that was to the right of the "Hard Disk Drives" and "Drives with Removable Storage" headers), re-worked the start-screen right-click menu to match other elements in the vs, made a few more adjustments to highlights and shadows.
Updated: (10/22/2014)  Changed taskbar clock hover\clicked effect.
Updated: (10/15/2014)
Made a couple of minor adjustments to the taskbar jumplist, re-did copy/move dialog buttons, adjusted brightness of toolbar buttons.
Updated: (10/03/2014)
Fixed several issues related to text colors being hard to see, highlighted items being blacked-out (like in UTorrent), and changed the fill-chunk for device storage (removed vertical lines).
Other Past Updates: Fixed hard-to-see text colors (tricky business with dark vs), fixed taskbar toolbar, added 3D right-click menu effect and hover color to start screen context menu, minor adjustments to other font colors, added system clock, added cool Windows logo and 'nite shift' logo to control-panel System Properties area, made minor adjustments to command bar, re-did taskbar thumbs, added subtle gradient to copy/move animation, colored and tweaked task manager, added command header to control panel, re-did status bar separator, added side image to Personalization ui, plus many more small tweaks and adjustments...

To Install:

Make sure you've first patched your system for the use of non-Microsoft themes. The patcher I use is UXTheme Multi-Patcher. At present, the latest version is 12.0 and is here: www.windowsxlive.net/uxtheme-m…

1) In order to have your command-bar (and no ribbon), you'll need to download and run the latest version of Tihiy's 'OldNewExplorer' program: www.msfn.org/board/topic/17037…

*Once you've installed OldNewExplorer, be sure to UN-check "enable glass on navigation bar" so that the frames of your explorer windows look sexy. If you don't do this, there will be some ugly misalignment in the navigation bar.

Recommended OldNewExplorer config:

Capture by Y-N-1-F

2) Next, place the contents of the 'Themes' folder in "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes"...

3) Then, install the Blank font included and run the corresponding registry import. (This will 'remove' the text from title-bars. It can be un-done by running the other Default registry file)

4) Restart your computer to allow the registry import of the Blank font fix to take effect.

5) After you've restarted your computer, apply the theme from the Personalize menu.

6) Done!

This vs doesn't support a Windows 7-style start-menu, so it's not recommended for use with programs like StartIsBack, etc. If you're using SIB or some other start-menu program, the start-menu is going to be basic and ugly, plus your taskbar jump list will be out-of-whack! So this vs is for start-screen people, not start-menu people...The start screen however is fully functional and updated to Win 8.1 Update 1 specifications! I highly doubt that I'll be including a SIB version....since Work Nite Shift is basically a 'personal-mod', and I don't use a Win7-style start menu.

--Please report any issues or bugs to me, and I'll try to fix them or help you to do so. In some programs such as UTorrent, the color/visibility of your category text and highlighted items will depend on which version of the program you happen to be using. I myself use an older version of UTorrent, version 2.2.1 (build 25110), and the colors are fine....But, in the newer versions of Utorrent, the text may be hard to see. It's just one of those things with dark vs; it's almost impossible to get everything perfect for all users' preferences. If you change a text color to 'fix' one issue, that same text color is often an inherent property for other areas in the theme, and will cause yet another issue somewhere else, either in the vs or in some program or browser, if changed.

Work Redux 2 for Windows 8.1 by Y-N-1-F
Work Redux 2 for Windows 8.1
Updated 10/10/2014: Got rid of the black line below the control panel command-module that was visible when viewing by small and large icons.

Released with permission from the man his self, the creator of the original 'Work Redux' visual-style for Windows 8.1, I give you my very own tweaked 'personal-mods' of this amazing vs! This version is extremely elegant and user-friendly. It was "modded" over the course of a few months by myself, LamiaDC, and neiio. Work Redux 2 is my #1 favorite vs for Windows 8.1, and I'm very happy that neiio has given me permission to share it with you all. I hope you'll like it as much as I do!

For Windows 8.1 only

What's different in this modification?

* 2 versions included, one with normal caption buttons, one with the symbols for 'minimize, restore, close' removed

* darker taskbar

* added images for preview panes and headers

* custom system-property/Windows 'genuine' logos

* custom Timedate.cpl with install-script

* command-bar enabled and customized

custom cursors and sound-scheme

-thanks and credits to Jardic, for the Big Visible Cursors...and to PC2012, who's account is presently deactivated, for the Cool Sound Scheme V2 used-

* other tweaked settings

This visual-style doesn't support a Win 7 style start-menu, so it's not recommended for use with programs like StartIsBack, etc. In order for the jump-list to look and behave correctly, certain elements of the start-menu had to be sacrificed/tweaked. Windows 8+ is tricky like that. The start-screen however is fully functional, and preferred in my opinion.

If your folder band and explorer windows are still showing text after applying the Blank Font and registry-hack included in this package, restart your computer...Same thing after applying the optional Thin Borders tweak.

In order to have your command-bar (and no ribbon), you'll need to download and run the latest version of Tihiy's 'OldNewExplorer' program: www.msfn.org/board/topic/17037… , enabling these settings once installed:

Change my attempt good intentions

Crouched over, you were not there living in fear
But signs were not really that scarce, obvious tears
But I will not hide you through this, I want you to help
And please see the bleeding heart perched on my shirt

Die, withdraw, hide in cold sweat, quivering lips
Ignore, remorse, naming a kid, living Wasteland
This time you've tried all that you can it's turning you red

Change my attempt good intentions
Should I? Could I?
Here we are with your obsession
Should I? Could I?

Crowned hopeless, the article read "Living Wasteland"
This time you've tried, all that you can, turning you red
But I will not hide you through this, I want you to help

Change my attempt good intentions
Should I? Could I?
Here we are with your obsession
Should I? Could I?

Heave the silver, hollow sliver, piercing through another victim
Turn and tremble, be judgmental, ignorant to all the symbols
Blind the face with beauty paste, eventually you'll one day know

Change my attempt good intentions
Limbs tied, skin tight
Self-inflicted his perdition
Should I? Could I?

Change my attempt good intentions
Should I? Could I?
Should I? Could I?

Breaking Benjamin

Crowded streets are cleared away
One by One
Hollow heroes separate
As they run

You're so cold
Keep your hand in mine
Wise men wonder while strong men die

Show me how it ends it's alright
Show me how defenseless you really are
satisfied and empty inside
Well, that's alright, let's give this another try

If you find your family, don't you cry
In this land of make-believe, dead and dry

You're so cold, but you feel alive
Lay your hand on me one last time

Show me how it ends it's alright
Show me how defenseless you really are
satisfied and empty inside
Well, that's alright, let's give this another try

Show me how it ends it's alright
Show me how defenseless you really are
satisfied and empty inside
Well, that's alright, let's give this another try

It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright

It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright

It's alright

They live without hope

Staring in the face of condemnation
Laughter fills the skies instead of rain

Live my life alone in resignation
Arms outstretched for those who cannot see

Scarecrow

Crucified and left in isolation
Pictures of our lost morality

Scarecrow
Scarecrow

They live without hope
They live without hope

Eyeless stares invite this whole damnation
Rotting corpse of inhumanity

Scarecrow
Scarecrow

They live without hope
They live without hope
They live without hope
They live without hope

Thanks so much! I just can't use white vs...hurts my eyes, too bright. So, I like a mix of dark/light. I like the overall look to be dark, but with lighter menus I guess.
